About me

Hi, I’m Tara! I am a 31 year old Canadian special education teacher and photographer living in New Zealand, a country that has quietly become home over the past seven years.

Photography found me early. As a teenager, I carried an old Olympus film camera almost everywhere, drawn to the way light could transform an ordinary moment into something unforgettable. I became fascinated with the feeling photographs could hold; fleeting expressions, soft movement, the atmosphere of a place, the quiet poetry of everyday life. That same sense of curiosity and love for storytelling has always stayed with me.

These days, my Fujifilm comes everywhere with me, my trusted companion and, in my eyes, the perfect camera for capturing the world.

Beyond photography, I work as a teacher in both mainstream and special education. This work has shaped me deeply. It’s taught me patience, presence, and how much beauty exists in genuine human connection. It has also influenced the way I photograph people: gently, honestly, and without forcing a moment to become something it isn’t.
